I am writing to offer my strongest recommendation for the services of Judy Croyle, our real estate agent for the purchase of our new home in Providence. The transaction was made more complicated by the fact that we were moving from California, and had to do a lot of the work long distance. We also discovered that we were entering a sellers’ market, with limited homes for sale and fast action necessary. Judy handled all aspects of this situation with expertise, warmth, understanding for our circumstances, and patience with all our questions.
What goes into making a superb real estate agent? Of course, you need to know the market and the ins and outs of the business side of the transaction. But those agents who excel also have far above average listening skills, empathy, and genuine caring for their clients. Judy excelled in all these areas. From the start it was clear that she wanted to learn about our needs, and not to “make a sale.” A truly excellent sales person, and they are in the minority, clearly demonstrates that she is on your side. Of course, this is the kind of person you will refer to your family and friends, as happened with us in Judy’s case. Judy never pushed in any way, and clearly was “our agent,” as in “our advocate.”
